Children Play on Children's Day

Inside us all there is a little child. And on Children's Day that little child gets to come out and play.
Although Universal Children's Day is officially celebrated on November 20th, in India we celebrate it on 14th November, the birth anniversary of Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru, as a tribute to him and his love for children.

Schools declare a holiday and children spend the day playing with their friends, watching TV or doing whatever they want to do.

Some families even make it an annual tradition to take the children out for a nice meal to a fancy restaurant or to the beach. It is a great time for parents to bond with their children and children to spend time with their parents.

And of course, when there are children, there have to be gifts.
Luckily shopping for children is easier than ever, with large stores devoted completely to toys and products for kids. Puzzles, colouring books, board games, sports goods and cartoon character products are all popular amongst the kids.

There is also the option of giving them shampoos and soaps, designed for kids, to make bath time fun or doctor sets and pilot sets to help nurture their interest in a certain profession.
In today's hi-tech world, gifts also include the latest gadgets including video games, mobile phones and laptops.

In case you are looking for something a little more unique and extravagant, there is always the option of using a premium gifting site. From baskets overflowing with goodies for kids to cute and cuddly soft toys, you can be sure of finding something to make any kid feel special.

Although this is a day of great joy and happiness, there are also a lot of serious issues that we need to remember. Most importantly, is our commitment to the welfare and well being of children around the world. While a lot of lucky children take privileges like an education for granted, there are still millions of children around the world who never have an option of going to school. Countless suffer from malnutrition and diseases. For many, Children's Day is not a holiday, but just another day working in the fields or construction sites.

These are issues that we as individuals can definitely do something about. Certain NGO's like UNICEF have devoted themselves to the betterment of children's lives around the world.
So this Children's Day, one of the best gifts you can give is a donation to such an organization, to help make some underprivileged child's life a little better.
